FAQ
What is CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) is one of over 104 active chemical compounds (or ‘cannabinoids’) in the cannabis plant. It’s the second-most well-researched cannabinoid, behind THC. CBD is extracted from the stems and leaves of the plant. Our products are made from industrial hemp that is grown following the regulations of the EU.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil consists of various components: The basis is always a vegetable base oil, such as olive oil, pumpkin seed oil or hemp seed oil, which is enriched with the hemp extract CBD. CBD oils are divided into full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and isolate. Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum oils can have a legally permitted maximum value (less than 0.2%) of THC. Isolates are THC-free. CBD oil has no intoxicating, i.e. no psychoactive effect.
What is the difference between CBD isolate and CBD full-spectrum?
A CBD isolate is a purified hemp extract that can be extracted from the hemp plant or produced synthetically in laboratories. Therefore it contains more CBD than a CBD full-spectrum oil and no additive cannabinoids or other plant substances.
A full-spectrum CBD oil contains all important components of the hemp plant: cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids like CBD und CBDa, CBN, CBG, CBC and many more. Therefore you can benefit from the so-called “entourage effect” which declares that all active ingredients of the hemp plant interact with each other and intensify the effect. This ensures a particularly high bioavailability. A full spectrum oil also contains small traces of THC (<0.2%).
What is THC and how is it different from CBD?
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychotropic component of the cannabis plant. It is the chemical that affects your mind and makes you “high” while CBD (cannabidiol) is non-psychoactive. Our HERBLIZ CBD full-spectrum oils contain very low levels of THC (<0.2%) and our CBD isolates contain pure CBD without any traces of THC. All our products are 100% legal, safe and will not make you feel “high”.
What does the percentage of CBD mean?
The percentage shows you the amount of CBD in your product. For example, oil with “10 ml” and “10%” contains 1000 mg of CBD. The most common unit of measurement for CBD oils is 10ml. The following conversion formula applies: CBD content (percentage) * 1000 / 10ml content. Example with a 10% CBD Oil: 10 * 1000 / 10 = 1000 mg
What is a carrier oil?
Every CBD oil needs a carrier oil as a base. Those are vegetable oils that are used to dilute essential oils and absolutes and “carry” them to your skin. This is necessary because essential oils are potent and can cause irritation when applied directly to your skin. The most frequently used oils are:
- Hempseed oil
- Olive oil
- MCT coconut oil
What are phenols in CBD?
Phenols are aromatic compounds of the (hemp) plant. They are a form of reactive, acidic molecules where a hydroxyl group is attached to hydrocarbon, and some are potent antioxidants. They are being used in full-spectrum CBD oils along with other hemp plant components such as terpenes and flavonoids.
What is hemp seed oil?
Hemp seed oil is a natural product made of cold-pressed hemp seeds. The hemp seed oil contains a lot of essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid and gamma-Linolenic acid (GLA). Hemp seed oil is not only the richest natural source of omega 6 & 3 fatty acids but even contains them in the ideal 3:1 ratio for the skin. Therefore, hemp seed oil can ideally be used for cosmetics.
Other ingredients are:
- Minerals
- Vitamins A, C, E, B (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12)
- Omega-3, -6, -9 fatty acids
- Hemp protein
- Beta-carotene
